Drag mode brings the exciting world of street racing into Project Torque. In it, 2-4 players line up in a quarter or a half mile strip to smoke some rubber and see who is the fastest racer.
When you get to the start grid, after a short countdown, you have to warm your tires up. It's a burn-out mini game. In seven seconds, you have to push the gas pedal repeatedly in accord of the clock-like gauge on the screen. The better your burn-out the better grip you'll get on track.
After the burn-out, the count-down begins. From now on, you can control the car, but you can move only after you get the green light or else you'll get a red light penalty (for a second).
In drag race, you have to shift manually. In this, a special tachometer (RPM gauge) helps you. It also shows the ideal shifting time and evaluates your performance. (Good and Perfect evaluation gives RP bonus.) Too much bad shifts gets the engine busted. Late shifts can overheat it.
When you reach the finish line, your speed then your time is displayed on the screen. The first racer wins.
